L'exposition Journées européennes du Patrimoine au mémorial des martyrs de la Déportation a lieu dans le cadre des Journées du patrimoine Paris 2020.

À l'occasion des Journées européennes du patrimoine, venez découvrir le mémorial des martyrs de la Déportation lors de visites libres ou guidées.

Véritable oeuvre architecturale, il est un lieu de transmission de l'histoire de la Seconde Guerre mondiale à travers une construction qui invite au recueillement et à la réflexion.

Construction singulière et puissante, il suggère certains aspects caractéristiques du monde concentrationnaire : l'emprisonnement, l'oppression, l'évasion impossible.

Impliquant le visiteur, le mémorial suscite le recueillement vers une crypte conservant la dépouille d'un déporté inconnu.

The Mémorial des Martyrs de la Déportation, on the île de la Cité in Paris, was planned by the Remembrance Network association and designed by architect Georges-Henri Pingusson.

It was inaugurated on 12 April 1962 by General de Gaulle. This memorial is a singular work that takes visitors on a journey intended to inspire reverence and meditation, in serenity and solitude, around a crypt that holds the remains of an unknown deportee.

To strengthen the significance of the memorial and its impact on the general public, especially on young people, an educational exhibition was inaugurated in 1975 in the upper rooms. It is this exhibition, renovated in 2016, that we would like you to discover. The new museography, based on the latest historical research, allows us to study the particularities of the various deportations, while uniting them in a tribute to the Nation.
