Ferdinand Joseph Lamothe, plus connu sous le nom de Jelly Roll Morton, autoproclamé « inventeur du jazz » et bien connu pour son attitude excentrique, fut surtout l'un des plus grands arrangeur et compositeur du début de l'ère jazz. Le Collectif Paris Swing s'inspirera ici principalement de ses compositions et arrangements pour son orchestre les Red Hot Pepper. « I have been robbed of three million dollars all told. Everyone today is playing my stuff and I don't even get credit. Kansas City style, Chicago style, New Orleans style hell, they're all Jelly Roll style ».
